Manchester City moved top of the Premier League table with just one game to play thanks to a 2-0 win over Tottenham.

Pep Guardiola's side knew they had to win to ensure the title was in their hands, while Arsenal hoped their bitter rivals would do a job.

But an Erling Haaland doubled ensured City are now on the cusp of a fourth consecutive top-flight title.

The first half passed by without much incident before things exploded in the second 45 minutes.

Kevin De Bruyne set up Erling Haaland for a tap-in before Ederson had to be replaced by Stefan Ortega after a collision with Cristian Romero.

Ortega then denied Heung-min Son one-on-one while the game was at 1-0.

It was a massive moment, and just minutes later, Pedro Porro fouled Jermey Doku in the box, and Haaland stepped up to slam home the penalty and spark wild scenes on the pitch and in the away end.

    Postecoglou reacts

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has been speaking to beIN SPORTS about his team's 2-0 defeat to Man City.

He said: "Disappointing result. I thought it was a tight game.

"Some big moments for both teams. They took theirs, we didn't take ours.

"We lack a little bit of discipline at times, and we gte punished against the good teams.

"After that, we had a great chance to make it 1-1, which keeps them in the game.

"It wasn't the usual home atmosphere, but we just had to deal with that."

Tottenham 0-2 Man City - REACTION

    • Manchester City will sit top of the Premier League table heading into the final day of the season for the sixth time in the last seven seasons (exception 2019-20), going on to win the title in each of those previous campaigns.
    • Manchester City are now unbeaten in 22 consecutive Premier League games (W18 D4), including all 18 in 2024 (W15 D3); however, the last two teams to make as long an unbeaten start to a calendar year have failed to go on to win the title in that same year (Liverpool in 2022 – 2nd and Chelsea in 2008 – 2nd).
    • None of Tottenham’s 19 home league games finished as a draw this season (W13 L6), the first team to go a full home Premier League campaign without any of their matches finishing level since Manchester City in 2018-19 (W18 L1). It is the first time in Spurs’ history that they’ve not drawn at home once in a single league campaign.
    • Tottenham are now guaranteed to finish outside of the top four positions in the Premier League for the fourth time in the last five seasons, after finishing in the Champions League spots in each of Mauricio Pochettino’s final four full campaigns in charge (2015-16 - 2018-19).

    Haaland wraps up Golden Boot

You would expect that, barring a miracle, Erling Haaland has now sealed the Premier League Golden Boot for a second consecutive year.

He is now six goals clear of Cole Palmer and seven of Alexander Isak.

However, both have two more games and Haaland has one.

Again, he was barely involved, but he delivered when it mattered.

    Rodri reacts

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has been speaking to Sky Sports about his side's huge win over Tottenham.

    He said: "It's unbelievable.

"We know there is still one more game, but today was incredible.

"It wasn't our best performance, but we came here to win, and we did.

"I want to talk about the substitutions. Stefan [Ortega], he saved us, and the other players were also exceptional."

Tottenham 0-2 Man City - FULL TIME

There goes the final whistle, and the Citizens are now one win away from being crowned Premier League champions again.

They weren't at their best by any stretch of the imagination, but they got the job done.

Erling Haaland scored two, including a late penalty, but the big moment was when Stefan Ortega denied Heung-min Son when he went through on goal.

That save might just have denied Arsenal the title.
