I have been making these for many, many years and everyone who tries them agrees they’re out-of-this-world delicious! Chewy, soft, and filled with just meltedchocolate chips. Let’s walk through how to make chocolate chip cookies step-by-step, and don’t forget to watch the video.
Chocolate chip cookies are my weakness. I’ve baked my share of cookies in my lifetime, but out of all the cookie recipes I have ever shared with you, these cookies are my favorite. It’s a foolproof recipe, that results in the best cookies over and over and over again. My kids LOVE when I make these and gobble them up just moments after I take them out of the oven.
Ingredients:
- Sugar – We use brown sugar and white granulated sugar.
- Butter – 1 stick of cold butter (no need to let the butter come to room temp!).
- Egg – Just one egg (can substitute this for 1/4 cup of unsweetened apple sauce.
- Vanilla – Vanilla is the flavor booster in cookies.
- Baking Soda – Helps keep homemade cookies soft and tender
- Corn Starch – Makes the cookies full and thick
- Salt –All baked goods need salt, it helps balance the sweetness.
- Chocolate Chips – 1 FULL bag of chocolate chips. Yes, you could use less… but why?
- Flour –I used all-purpose for this recipe
- Walnut Pieces – Optional
Recipe Tips
Do Not Over Mix the Dough – Overmixing will result in dry, crumbly, and hard cookies.
Do Not Over Bake Them – I bake mine at a high temperature for only 6 minutes. They continue to cook while they cool, but you can still eat them before they’re fully cooled for the softest cookies EVER!
I like to make mine using a combination of chocolate chips and a few walnuts (which are optional). These chocolate chip cookies are so soft, moist, and with a richness to the dough like no other cookies I’ve tried. Plus, there are no funny ingredients, no chilling, etc. Just a simple, straightforward, amazingly delicious, doughy yet still fully cooked, chocolate chip cookie that turns out perfectly every single time!
“Best homemade cookies EVER! I received so many compliments after making these.”
Jordan
“Best cookie ever! They are seriously the perfect cookie! Crisp on the outside and nothing but chocolate on the inside. My kids won’t stop grabbing them and neither can I!”
Jamie
“These turned out amazing! Best cookies I’ve ever made.”

“I could never make soft cookies. As soon as they cooled off, not the same. These are a dream. This is now my only recipe for chocolate chip cookies. My husband and I love them.”

Electric handheld mixer
Spoon

- 1¼ cups flour
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup cold butter (1 stick of butter is usually 1/2 cup)
- 6 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions
Preheat oven to 475°
Prepare baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking
In the smaller mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, corn starch, salt, and baking soda

In the larger mixing bowl, combine the butter, sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract
Gently stir the dry ingredients (flour, corn starch, salt, etc.) into the larger bowl with the butter/egg/sugar mixture (as seen in the video)
Add in chocolate chips and optional walnuts. Mix gently until fully combined
Using a full size spoon (tablespoon), make cookie dough balls and place them on the baking sheet
Bake for 6-7 minutes or until the tops of the cookies get golden/brown (keep your eye on them:)
Remove from the oven and let them cool. They’ll continue to cook on the inside while they cool
For the softest cookies, eat them when they are warm, not totally cooled

TIP: To make EXTRA LARGE cookies, double the size of the cookie dough balls using 2 tablespoon scoops and increase the baking time to 9-10 minutes. Makes 9 cookies if made larger.
