Dr. Allen Bice
Veterinarian
I grew up around a lot of animals. Some pets, some livestock, and some who filled both roles. I graduated from Colorado State with a degree in Veterinary medicine in 1988 and went to work in Park City Utah in a busy two vet practice. After three years there I decided to change my career dramatically and joined the Army Veterinary Corps where I served for the next five years. I loved the army and that experience provided an opportunity to do things with my degree that would not have been available anywhere else. I was happy there, but I longed to get back to Hurricane, where my heart has always been, and to a more traditional veterinary practice. I opened "The Desert Vet" in 1995. The name is one that I moonlighted under in Saudi Arabia while in the army. I am convinced that serving others is the key to a full and happy life. Being a small animal veterinarian provides me an opportunity to serve people and their pets in a vital and important way. I am honored to be entrusted to serve the people of this great community and their pets. My goal is to match the medical care for each of my patients to their unique situation and needs.

Veterinary Technician
I moved to Southern Utah from Las Vegas in 1995 with my husband, two daughters, three dogs and two cats. Before that, I lived on a small farm in Michigan and knew then that I wanted to work with animals. I graduated from two years of veterinary technician school in Northern California after high school. I have worked in several animal hospitals and have taken great experiences from each one. I have enjoyed learning, as well as sharing, many things with Dr. Bice and the other staff members at The Desert Vet. I love having the chance to educate pet owners about the importance of health care and always hope that I can make a difference in the lives of my patients and their owners.

I grew up in Southern Utah on a family farm, so I have always been interested in animals! I started as a volunteer and the staff saw that I loved what I was doing. I was soon hired. After four years, I still enjoy learning something new every day and taking care of pre and post operation patients. I love meeting new people so getting to know our clients and their pets is fun for me.I love sharing their stories with my family and using what I've learned here to take care of my own three dogs and one cat.
CC
Clinic Cat
CC is our wonderful three legged clinic cat. He was found near Dr. Bice's house with a crushed leg. We could not find his owner and our only options were to amputate his leg or euthanize him. CC loves to curl up on our office chairs, cuddle with all the employees, climb into purses, and play in boxes!

I grew up on a farm in Riverton, Utah. I got my first horse at 2 years old and a love for all animals was born. I have been working with animals in various capacities most of my adult life. I admit that I do have too many pets at home...according to my husband. We have a daughter and 3 sons and 3 grandchildren (that outrank these pets...usually 😉). I have been a patron of The Desert Vet for too many years to remember and am now very excited to be working here. I love helping pets and people while working with the knowledgeable vets and fun staff...it doesn't get much better than this.+ Read more

I have been working at the desert vet now for 19 years. It's been amazing to see the growth from the little blue house to the clinic that we have been in for several years now. It's been fun to build relationships with the clients and their pets and watch them from birth to, sadly death. It's also been interesting watching our personal employees' families change and grow. Several of us now have grandchildren including me with 6 of the little darlings. We have also had our 4 legged families change. At this time, I have 3 dogs and 4 cats- some were left home by some of the 6 children when they moved out. I love going to conferences that Dr. Bice takes us to so that we are always learning new and wonderful things --- Best job ever!!!+ Read more

I grew up in Southern Utah surrounded by horses and our wild pack of Dachshunds. I knew from a young age that I wanted to work with animals. When I was in my last year of Highschool I decided to further my career prep by interning at a vet clinic. While interning Dr. Bice taught me lots of skills and helped me solidify what I wanted my career to be. I enjoy meeting all of the clients and getting to know their pets! At this time I have two very special cats that run my house.

As many have pointed out, I am brand new to the beautiful Hurricane area! I was born in Mesa, Arizona, grew up inOmaha, Nebraska, attended college in Whitewater, Wisconsin, and here I am in Hurricane. Undoubtedly, southern Utah has to be my favorite spot so far. I grew up loving all animals; holding all of the critters, pointing at all the horses and cows, and petting all of the dogs and cats. I've had 4 dogs, 1 guinea pig, 1 bunny, many fish, and always a desire to have more animals to love on. My rescue dog Scout is my fur-baby and I am always up for showing him off (he's such a poser). I love meeting new people, learning new things, and comforting pets. I am beyond grateful I get to go to a job that never feels like work and a place I know I can help people to the best of my ability. I would like to grow my veterinary knowledge but am more than happy helping behind the counter, greeting your furry, hairy (and some naked) pets. The vets, techs, interns, and desk ladies (plus CC) are all the best and really show how great of a community has been built off of love for your families and animals.+ Read more
