The Bandit Camp is in the Kharidian Desert. It is home to bandits that will attack players wearing any Zamorakian or Saradominist items because they are followers of Zaros and bear a grudge against the followers of Zamorak and Saradomin for persecuting their ancestors. Desert heat does not apply within the camp.

The Bandit Camp contains a general store that sells waterskins, which can be useful for Mining at the nearby quarry, though they are not needed in the camp itself.

Getting there[edit | edit source]

In addition to travelling on foot, there are a few shortcuts to get here:

  • Taking a Magic carpet ride from the Shantay Pass to the Bedabin Camp and then running directly south.
  • Using fairy ring code BIQ that teleports the player to the entrance of the Kalphite Lair, which is north-east of the camp. Run south-west to reach the Bedabin camp, then run south until you arrive at the Bandit Camp.
  • Using a Pharaoh's sceptre to teleport to Jaldraocht (the Ancient Pyramid) and then running north-west.
  • Using the Camulet to teleport to Enakhra's Temple and then running north-east followed by north-west around the cliff.

History[edit | edit source]

During the First and Second Age, a large part of Gielinor was ruled by the god Zaros. The Second Age ended when many of the Mahjarrat, with some other creatures, led by Zamorak, rebelled against their god. After a long fight, Zamorak impaled Zaros with the Staff of armadyl and stole his godly powers. Zamorak was banned from Gielinor, but later returned as a god. This ignited the cataclysmic God Wars. During these wars, the few Zarosians who had stayed true to their god were often harassed by others. Many of Zaros' towns were overrun, like the mighty city of Senntisten, and many of the former god's followers were killed. However, some managed to stay alive and fled to the Kharidian Desert. There, their descendants now live as outlaws in the Bandit Camp, still very loyal to their fallen god, Zaros.

Notable features[edit | edit source]

The Bandit Camp is home to a bar, The Big Heist Lodge. This is the only known source of bandit's brew, an ale that will temporarily boost a player's Thieving level by 1. It costs 650 coins, and thus is usually worth it to use them to boost instead of using sq'irkjuice so you can turn that in for xp. However, autumn and summer juice boost higher (+2 and +3 respectively).

The town is also home to a simple general store where you can find Tiles, who exchanges notes for Items for a small payment.

There are two main areas used in town which feature in the Desert Treasure I quest: mirrors, used to discern the whereabouts of the Diamonds of Azzanadra, and the secure chest in a large tent in the south area of town, containing Rasolo's gilded cross.

Other features[edit | edit source]

  • Dust devils: Dust devils are Slayer monsters that have a combat level of 93. They require 65 Slayer and a facemask or a slayer helmet to kill. They are located in the Smoke Dungeon, east of the Bandit Camp.
  • Ancient Pyramid: The final pyramid from the Desert Treasure I quest. After going through the labyrinth within, players are able to switch between normal and Ancient Magicks. It is located south of the camp.

Treasure Trails[edit | edit source]

  • Searching the crates in the General Store tent is the solution to the hard cryptic clue: The cheapest water for miles around, but they react badly to religious icons.

Training[edit | edit source]

The bandits in the camp will attack anyone wearing any Zamorak or Saradomin God equipment with no tolerance. This makes the camp a highly popular training spot as it will keep the residents attacking players. Attacking one of the bandits will also cause the rest of the bandits nearby to attack, but as they die, they will no longer be aggressive. This makes the area regularly crowded with many training their combat stats to 99. Using god equipment that does not lower strength bonus is preferred to maintain at least 60,000 experience per hour.

A fast, high strength bonus weapon from the list of melee training weapons such as an abyssal whip are recommended. Players with 60 Attack and 60 Defence can opt to use obsidian armour with a berserker necklace, toktz-xil-ak, and their best strength bonus or prayer bonus equipment depending on if they want to use Protect from Melee. If the player does not have a rune defender, a toktz-ket-xil is an alternative.

There are several methods of healing, using the Guthan's set, a Saradomin godsword, or food. Food can be unnoted by using it on Tiles and paying 5 coins per item.

If using Protect from Melee in combination with Prayer potions, Prayer bonus is important, so the Viggora's chainmace is better than the dragon scimitar in this case. The book of war is the recommended shield if not using a defender, but wanting strength bonus along with extra prayer bonus. If using offensive Prayer in addition to Protect from Melee, the 10% offensive prayers are the most efficient use of prayer points, accuracy boosts are usually not recommended because of the bandits low defensive stats.

It should be noted for players training within the easternmost house that Eblis wanders around inside. While he will be invisible to those who have partially completed Desert Treasure I, the bandits inside cannot walk through him. As a result, if your character is standing against the northern wall, Eblis will sometimes cause bandits to get stuck behind the bookshelves when they are targeting you.
