Wearing a nasal cannula might seem burdensome enough, especially when you first start using oxygen therapy, but with the addition of wearing prescription glasses, it can start to feel there are just too many things on your face. You might also feel a little self conscious in public and worry that people are paying more attention to your nasal cannula than you while you are talking to them. If you are bothered by having to wear your nasal cannula, especially if you have to use constant oxygen, along with your glasses, getting a pair of American Medical Glasses might be the answer to your problems.

The tubing attached to the nasal cannula has to stretch across your face, from one side of your nose to the other, and go up and over your ears. Some people might not be bothered by this, but it can get in the way of the patient trying to do their hair and get spruced up in the morning. You would have done your hair, only to have it pressed down on the sides with the rubber tubing that runs from your nasal cannula to the oxygen concentrator or oxygen machine.

Many people might also choose to remove the tubing when they go out somewhere, and this is one of the main reasons why people have still have so much trouble while they are using oxygen therapy. They might think that not using their prescribed oxygen for a small amount of time won’t be a big deal, but in the long run you will notice that you are having even more trouble with your COPD, or other lung disease that requires the use of supplemental oxygen.

Going out and about is something most people take for granted, but when you are on oxygen it can become an ordeal, with tubes getting caught and pulling on things, and people treating you as if you are handicapped. Some people start to think it’s easier just to stay home, which is often not the right choice, since people with COPD still need to get an adequate amount of physical activity. You also need a social life and a life outside of your house to stay happy.

A pair of Oxy View glasses positions the two nasal prongs on either side of your nose, and run up to the glasses, so that the tubing is virtually invisible and out of your way. Someone would have to get close to you to see that you have rubber tubing running along the sides of your nose, since the tubing is pressed along the sides of your nose and are nearly see-through.

These glasses also have a maximum flow capacity of 5 liters. They come as the frame that accommodates the two nasal tubes, and you can choose the frames that look best on you. You will also be able to add the prescription lenses that you need. You can even choose to wear them strictly as fashion glasses, with non-prescription or clear lenses!

A pair of these glasses might be pricey and may or may not be covered by your insurance, but if you can save up the money for them, they will be beyond worth the price. Not only will you feel more comfortable, but your confidence will increase because you won’t feel like you have to hide behind your glasses and nasal cannula.
